2011 Light Up A Life Thanks!

Roughly 150,000 twinkling lights combined to illuminate the meaning of community service in a corner of Ambler in Montgomery County this past Christmas season.

This year, the Yoast family light display on Butler Pike raised $15,000, which was donated to the Amber Community Cupboard and accepted by Officials Nanette Granneman and Tom McGrady.

Ambler Community Cupboard is a community based organization aimed at helping those who are in need with food, clothing, furniture and other necessities, according to the organization’s Web site.

Public donations to enjoy the light display, which included seven visits from Santa, 2176 “high fives” in exchange for candy canes, and 144 cups of creamy hot chocolate, amounted to $12,400. One private donor included a check for$1,000, the largest single donation in Light of a Life history.

Acteon Networks, LLC, based in Fort Washington, donated more than 1500 man-hours to create the lavish display, as well as electricity cost  by Mr. Yoast of $2,420.

Another $2,600 check from Acteon Networks brought the total donation tally to $15,000.

The money will be used toward a ground breaking this spring for an addition to the Ambler Community Cupboard facilities, to build a walk in freezer.

An additional 11 new light vignettes were highlights of this year’s display.

Acteon Networks knows this kind of endeavor doesn’t happen without a lot of help. A special thanks goes to all those who visited and supported the Yoast family and this year’s charity with their generous donations.

Along with donators heartfelt thanks goes to the Upper Dublin Police Department, and Deputy Chief Lee Benson, Jay Rejniak (Santa Clause) and Traffic coordinator Gary Wyatt for ensuring visitor safety along Butler Pike.

2011 was a remarkable success, and our aim is to make 2012 even better.
